Whats that got to do with the life span of the canisters? Also, you've even stated this yourself, in this day and age, a carbon cartidge is a carbon cartidge, can't make em much different.
DI is a different story all together. My system is 165GPD. I top off 5 gallons every few days.

The length of time filters, membranes, resins and components last and how well they work is directly related to the cost of ownership of the system and the cost per gallon of treated water produced.

Yea I hear ya, its tough making those canisters. Last time I checked also, darn near everyones ratio is 4:1 waste to water produced, they are basically all the same.
