going to move my reserve tank. from ground level to about 8 ft above ground level. basicly on top of of a new room i made in the house. the ro/di unit is currently mounted higher then the reserve tank. but in the new setup i am wondering how the ro/di unit will work with is about 6 ft below the reserve tank?

any doing this now? anyone have an comments on weather i should raise the ro/do to a better hight.

It won't make any difference you can see. 6 vertical feet is only a 2.5 psi pressure drop which if you have good pressure is nothing.

Yes it is pressurized but changes in head pressure will effect performance, not only GPD but also rejection rate. 2 psi isn't much but when you play with the calculator located at the top of the page here you will see the effects of pressure and temperature on GPD.

I can also post a link to how pressure and tap TDS effect what is called osmotic pressure if anyone is interested.

You'll be just fine, my ro/di sits below about 5 feet and pumps out water no problem. I do use a pump, but only because my city's water pressure is terrible.

My RO unit sits about 4-5 feet off the ground, and pushes the water all the way up into the ceiling, across the ceiling grid, and into the garage. I get plenty of clean water still coming out.

thanks for all the feedback. i have been renovating for some time and its one of the last things i need to do in order to finish closing walls up the last couple of walls.
