Hello R2R, I have two 75 gpd membranes on my RO unit. It's been making 0 TDS water for over 14 months. I'm wanting to be proactive & buy new membranes so I'm ready when they need replaced. I'm back in the hobby after a long absence & I remember changing my membrane about every year or so back in the day.

Details of my entire RO system. It's a BRS 75 gpd unit with one sediment, 2 carbon blocks, 75 gpd upgrade kit (second membrane), triple DI saver upgrade kit, and one extra mixed bed DI chamber at the end that I DIY'ed from my old ro unit. I have a booster pump as well. The pressure on the guage shows 82 when it's running. I have a thermostatic valve plumbed in so it keeps the water entering the ro unit at 77 degrees and it fills my 55g barrel in 5.5 hrs.

So far, when the TDS meter shows 1, I've changed carbon blocks and/or DI and it goes back to 0. I change the sediment when it starts looking dirty which is about every 6-8 weeks. How do I know when the membranes are shot? Or is it just a "change them out after a certain amount of time" thing? Can I put in 100 gpd membranes without issue, or is there anything else I need to do or purchase? I do flush it for 3-5 minutes before & after each use.

Sounds to me like you have the right BRS setup, and are doing everything right, to get at least twice the milage out of the membranes than the 14 months you've been using them. I changed mine after about 4 1/2 years and they actually looked quite clean.

Oh wow! I had no idea they would last that long. I thought they should be changed yearly. Ok, I'll leave them be & see how long I can get out of them. Thx for the response

Just go by rejection rate when it drops to xx% change the membrane. I use 97% for my signal.
