Rodi is a better choice in my opinion. My thought is the water quality is the one of the most important elements in keeping a reef tank. I would not skimp on a rodi unit when you can get a high quality unit for around $150.

RO by itself gets you 90% of the way there but it is the DI that gives you 0 TDS. RO acts as pretreatment for DI.

If you cannot afford a RO/DI purchase distilled water, it is the next best thing to RO/DI with RO coming in third.
