What do you store your RO water in? Where did you buy it?

Looking to be able to store at least 50 gallons, and would like to be able to heat it.

55 Gallon Brute Trash Can

Lots of people have had success with brute trash cans. I had a good friend who swears a bad tank crash was caused by that though so who knows lol.

As long as its food grade you will be fine. I have a local fresh food market near me that sells their 60 gallon drums for super cheap after they are done with them.

I've used grey brute cans for decades. Cheap and work well if you use bulkheads on them.

Absolutely, I gave them a good vinegar bath then rinsed them with a mild bleach solution, then a fresh water rinse before use.

I use 2 Ace Roto Mold Vertical 40 gallon containers for storing RO water. I bought them from Rural King a couple years ago! Both are in my garage, in the winter the water is cold, in the summer the water is hot!

These eagle drums are what I use and I love them. The lid comes off, which makes life easier.



The norwesco brand ones mentioned above are really nice, but you have to pay for freight shipping (which is more than the container), or pick them up from Memphis, TN.

Here is another 55 gallon that you can remove the entire top. Not in use at the moment. I have a bulkhead fitting on the bottom. When in use I put an elbo and run a pipe up 2 feet with a ball valve. Just set your bucket under it and your good to go.
You can also put a valve on the bottom and run a hose to where you need it.
$25 at the hydro store new.

I use regular ole grey brute. Ive stored rodi & sw for long periods. In the past I used a little rubber gasket around the rim. I store rodi, sw, & tap (fw).

The only issue is IO salt leaves residue but it hasn't caused any issues.

Nice rack system. I use the same on my frag tank and sump as a stand.
Those shelves are rated at 1800lbs.

Nice!!!! I’ve had both of these 40 gallon containers on this shelf for a couple years now... knock on wood it’s held up great!!!

Can anyone give me an idea how I can connect 1/4 inch tubing to this without a float valve? I notice if I want a float valve it would be lower on the tank after the curved portion, which would make me lose about 5-8 gallons of storage. I want to drill a hole near the top and connect with a BRS push connect, but what would I need other than the push connector?
