So I installed and used my RO buddie for the first time today. Did a water change with it and all went well. I read that drinking RO water is fine to drink just not the DI resin. I don’t have the DI attachment anyways so I tried it. It tasted quite bad and left a weird feeling in my throat. Is this normal because it’s a brand new unit? Or should I disregard drinking it again? Thanks :)

I had an ro buddy as well and you have to let it run water through it for a certain amount of time before the filters are useable. I think more than a few hours.

Ohh okay great, good to know that now lol. Was is it a mistake doing the water change?

Lol probably. Just run it through today and do another water change? That one I'm not to sure on but probably your best bet.

Most all RO systems for human consumption have an additional carbon filter after the membrane to remove the chemical taste the membrane imbues into the water.
