First time plumbing a tank, it's all dry fitted finally. I ran out of 3/4 pvc so going to finish tomorrow, just the pipe to the pump. But overflow/ emergency drain and return is done. I placed unions where I thought was needed, are they in the right spots?
I'm connecting vinyl hose from the pump to the pvc with that fitting its threaded , is it the right fitting I need? Couldn't find plastic hose clamps locally cant I just use zip ties ? Thanks for the help, p,s blue is return to pump in pics, do I add union after pump hose to pvc connection?

I just finished mine. Not to bad. Mine is exposed and wanted ir to look alittle nice. If it was hidden would have been schedule 40 pvc and not nearly as neat.

Would it be okay if I have a union this close to the box? Does it matter ? And where do I want the water line in the box? Thanks

I'm not sure what others would do, but I like to leave 3"-4" of pipe between fittings so the if I need to in the future, cut the pipe and re-use the fitting with a coupling.

But it will work fine.

Just fyi, I ended up doing something like this. I use a strainer in the left side and my water level keeps a slight trickle into the right side where it is open on top so it can’t pull a siphon.. With the 2 pipe setup I would think you will want a tiny trickle going over the stand pipe and full siphon on the other.

This is the first thing I noticed. If this is a Bean drain system, I thought these drains were supposed to be offset to create a water syphon in one of them, and then prevent the other from having a water syphon with an air valve in the top -- also making the general syphon higher up to ensure there's always air in it and water trickles over the bottom (not syphons and fills).

The second thing I noticed were the valve, shouldn't there be some gate valves in there for the return instead of ball valves? Slightly curious now if someone has added 2 gate valves to adjust each return line precisely, although not sure if that's needed beyond the difference in piping length/pressure.

I'm also guessing you don't want a manifold just in case you add something down the line?

I'm doing Herbie. Also not planning a manifold, but I have unions down there if I change my mind. But doubt I will, if I do reactors I prefer to do them separate from my main pump.

I think that’s totally reasonable. I’ve honestly started questioning lately when you’d actually want to use a manifold over dedicated pumps.

Alright everyone, im gonna take the advice and order a gate valve from BRS. Wish they sold them locally, my patience is wearing thin to get the tank wet! But I want to do everything right the first time. Im gluing my returns and will wait for the mail to finish the overflow.

Thanks for all the advice.

Yeah, I looked in 4 places locally including a plumbing store, still had to order the gate valves.

Is this a good length for main drain pipe? Or should I go shorter? Filling the tank now lol
