Thought I share a side project. This is a 150G LPS tank to house the flashy corals that can’t be kept with angels. Tanks is SC Aquarium 5’x2’x2’. It’s pre-drilled for synergy reef 20” overflow. Which is still being built. Lead time now is three weeks...

Below is the frame of the stand. Very simple and easy to build. Inside is a tile offer triton 44 sump.

Built this simple utility panel. Should be enough to hold all the controller modules and the power bricks.

Here is what the stand for the 150G looks like. I will get it painted sometime this week and then just wait for the overflow box to arrive so I can start plumbing. The stand is a little tall but I want to have enough room to work on the sump once it's up and running.

Nice video Robert. Next time give us some close ups and cover up the window with a towel so you don’t have that reflection on the tank glass. Love to see your angels in your next video.

Thank you! I know the glare from that window was a buzz kill. I need to get blinds installed. I will try to shoot a video today with the angels in QT. I am pretty excited about how the fish room is turning out.

While waiting for the overflow, I decided to get the return line done first. Spent a day and drove the HD three times and finally got everything in place.

I used 1.25" barb from the pump output, connected a check valve via silicon tubing (most expense soft tubing I have ever bought...), then it takes a turn to go horizontal to a T, split into two 1" pvc pipes and finally reduce to 0.75" and reach the return bulkheads through silicon tubings again. I used quite a few soft tubing because I want to minimize the stress put on the fittings and unions. Also silicon tubes are easy to work with and never kink. I also used several screw hooks and heavy duty zip lock ties to hold the pipes in place.

And Loc-lines are expensive!!!
The parts below cost me $42!!! 4 x 0.75" six segments loc-line pipe, 2 x 0.75" thread to loc-line adapter and 2 x 0.75" to 0.5" adapter

While I still have no clue regarding aquascape after spending over 10 hours thinking and playing with the rocks, the overflow box arrived from synergy reef and I did get the tank fully plumbed! And the best part is after test running with tap water for a night I don’t see any leaks!

I will take some photos of the over flow after I get back home today. I stayed up until 2AM last night and am fully exhausted now... fortunately it is a Friday

Somehow the epoxy I always used wouldn’t harden even after 20 hours. So finally I am going with this rough scape to get the tank started. Nothing is glued. I think once the tank is filled with coral the depth will be more apparent.

Well got the best email I have ever received in a long long time. Ted at Custom Aquariums shot me a photo and it absolutely made my day!

Spent the entire day building the stand. I have one more day left! Everything is done using 2*6 except the top.
