I've been out of the hobby a few years. Finally I'm jumping back in and doing it right. Plan was to get the sca 66 gallon but they were out of stock. Steve from sca gave me a free upgrade to the 80 gallon. It will be shipped out tomorrow.

Equipment
2 ai 26hd
Aquatic life bulb t5 led hybrid
2 mp10wqd
Sca skimmer
Sca return pump
200 watt jager heater
Brs rodi

Need to buy
Auto top off
Apex
Refugium light

I am using dry rock. I started doing the aquascape. This was my first time planning a tank from scratch. I had a 90 gallon when i was brand new and knew nothing. Then i had a couple bio cubes bought as a complete running tank. I am excited to start a brand new tank and document all my steps.

If this is the 32x24x24 I have the same tank and love it! I went with a radeon xr30 and wish I would have got 2 xr15's or 2 ai 26hd. So +1 for your lighting choice!

Tank was supposed to be delivered friday. When the driver showed up and opened the truck there was a problem. A 1200 lb. Box fell over and blocked the path to get the tank out. Looks like I have to wait until monday now.

Got off work early and started working on plumbing. Doing a herbie style. Let me know if anything looks wrong. Far left is main drain. Middle is return. Right is emergency drain

I would paint/caulk the seams and water proof the inside of the stand. I wasn't going to at first last minute decided too. Overflowed my ato tank 2X and am super glad I water proofed.

I added my rock and water. Tossed in a deli shrimp and added some biospira. I'm doing the brs/wwc 4 month cycle. I'll add fish in about 2 months. I also bought a tunze osmolator and a ufo refugium light.

Tested ammonia today. It was 0.5. I also bought a couple tiny pieces of live rock to help seed the tank. Scrapped a little of the coraline into the tank. I also hung my lights and refugium light. Next is doing some kind of rough cord management until I get an apex. I also have to install my ato. Think I'm going to use an ikea besta shelf to house the controllers and my ato reservoir.

Is that emergency drain downturn plumbed above or below the waterline in your sump? In my opinion the emergency drain pipe should be above the water line. That way it is pretty audible if water starts going down into the sump and you'll know th he water level in the overflow has risen do to something restricting the flow of the main drain.

Gotcha. I'll be running the bean animal on my new 280 build. Heres the link if you want to check it out. I love watching tank builds. I like the whole thought process and designing behind it all. Plus I like to see what everyone else is doing that could give me ideas that could prove useful in my setup.

Ya I like having feedback. This is my 1st build from scratch. Always good to have multiple eyes checking my work. I'll check out your build thread.

Busy day today. Went to ikea and bought a besta shelf. I'm using this as my ato reservoir holder and a place to house all my controllers. Not done with the cords yet. Once I get an apex I'll do some nice cord management and mount the controllers. I also installed my ato.
