Do you guys just get the caribsea rocks or should I be looking for something else? I want to get this right. I’m new.

Depends.. Dry rock equals no pests longer cycle.. Live rock might have some bad and good pests along the way.. also with live rock and live sand could bypass alot of ugly stages.. What size tank you looking into?

Ill add that dry rock means no pests from the rock BUT they usually get in into the tank anyway from frags.

As Dangler said live ocean rock is the way to go if you want to skip months of the ugly phase.

I have dry rock. Can I add a single piece or two of live rock? Would that be enough to speed up ugly phase? If so is there a trusted source online?

Of course ya can.. Little bit wouldn't hurt.. Just look over the rock a bit and see if ya see any pests.. Could also add some pods too as well..

Gulf live rock is what I use.
100% live in all current systems.
My old 120 started with 50/50 live/dead.
Only the dead got the uglies.
I would do at least 50/50 but any amount is better than none.
I have several systems all started with GLR.
My 35 nem system.
Pretty basic system and is currently 2 years old.
