Hello!

I wanted to ask about my RODI setup. I’ve got an older Aquamaxx which was converted from a 3 stage into a 5 stage with two membranes, one sediment filer, two carbon filters, and two resins.

I’m getting air in the third canister, as seen in the photo, and I don’t recall this happening before. Maybe from lack of flow? Not sure if it’s a problem.

The flow of water appears to be from the source to canister 1 (sediment filter), canister 2 (carbon), booster pump, membranes, canister 3 (carbon), then to an add-on two canister module (resin) and then is product water.

Pressure measured at the booster pump is 80 psi (needle bouncing 75-85 psi). I don’t have my TDS sensor hooked up properly so I’m not getting an output reading after the resin.

Do I need to change any of the plumbing sequence with the canisters?

The order of canisters sounds fine, different setup but mine goes sediment, carbon, membrane, resin. As for the air, have you checked all fittings and made sure canisters are tight?

Crack that canister until the water starts coming out. Then snug it up. If it keeps picking up air it’s likely a seal in that canister or the fittings.

With that canister I’ll crack it to release the air and re-tighten but every time I check on it the air back in the canister. Is it likely the seal for that canister or could it be in the water lines/fittings? I haven’t noticed any leaks yet.

The (typically) clear container that holds a filter cartridge is called a housing.

Unscrewing a housing to burp air out only works with an axial flow cartridge like a refillable DI cartridge. A carbon block is a radial flow cartridge - so that approach to getting the air out doesn't apply here.

I suspect your system is syphoning out that water. A simple syphon break would likely solve your issue.
