There is nothing wrong with that, it's just good know that there are other options in the future. KISS, or "Keep it simple stupid" is what I go by. Get your levels straightened out and get comfortable then see if you want to save a buck.

Also, the product I was referring to can be found under a different name at farm supply stores up your way.

Ok I should go, I think I hurt Greg's feelings
Please don't make me go decide what President I should vote for ...

Got my Mg test today. All tests are salifert with the exception of Calcium which is Red Sea.

My plan is to do a 10% water change Wednesday, as that'll be one week since last water change. I usually do bi-weekly...but im eager to test my water change water for dKh. I'll continue to post here in case anyone is as eager as I am to watch me obsess about my parameters and my Rookie dosing adventure.

Looking pretty good! Maybe feed a little heavier and bump up that alk just a bit. If your interested I really like the "aquarium note" app for keeping track of my parameters

Ok so either I'm way over thinking this, or I should retake grade 5 math. On the front of the bottle it says 1 mL for 100 L (25 G) will increase my dkh by 0.1...k I get that lol...i have 65 G minus rock and stuff...I'll estimate for my tank 2.5 mL will increase my dkh by 0.1...

What's this table in the back mean. TOO MANY NUMBERS. This chart is confusing me. And I suppose I would fall into the "mixed reef" as I only have LPS and soft corals, no SPS

In theory, to get me to 8.0 let's just say...

If my dkh is 7.3 currently...and using my estimation on how many gallons which I'll say is 62.5 gallons...if 1 mL of product per 25G = 0.1 dkh then...
2.5mL x 7 = 17.5 mL would in theory raise my dkh 0.7 dkh from 7.3 to 8.0 dkh?

It's the chart that messes me up.

Don’t look at the chart lol yes that sounds right in the math department, Id try 15 ml and see where it lands you just to compensate for the rock etc..easier to add a little more then take it out if you overshoot ur number

If your going to dose it all at once do it as early am as possible so it doesn’t raise the ph as much as it would mid day/Eve. Ph naturally raises over the coarse of the day and drops at night

K. Then once I dose...wait 4 days and test again...then calculate how much to get me to my original goal level...and then divide that by 4 to get my daily dose.

Also says to dose mag, alkalinity, then calcium. But if my mag and calcium stay at optimal levels do I need to still dose those 2? Wont dosing alkalinity decrease calcium?

Ya. I have a PH Test coming in the mail. I'm not planning on starting dosing without charting at least a week or two of my levels on a consistent basis. I want to see what my water chemistry is of the same water I mix prior to putting in my tank at a water change. And of course what it is after.

My nitrates were 25...had GHA outbreak....got them down to 10...then tried a cheap dose of vibrant for a little...then stopped as I noticed my nitrates were 5, now 2. My phos has always shown 0...but again it could be between 0 and 0.03...its hard to tell with the colors.

I'd love to see your tank when it's a better time of day
