I don't have anything too up to date. I'd snap a pic now but that would mean cleaning the glass...

K. Then once I dose...wait 4 days and test again...then calculate how much to get me to my original goal level...and then divide that by 4 to get my daily dose.

Also says to dose mag, alkalinity, then calcium. But if my mag and calcium stay at optimal levels do I need to still dose those 2? Wont dosing alkalinity decrease calcium?
4 days or 2 days, doesn’t really matter whatever you’re more comfortable doing but ya you got the jist of it. You’re water changes can possibly supplement the calk usage so you’re not having to dose it..I dose like 10 points worth a week at most but like .6 dkh in 24 hours, just the way the tanks growing currently I guess. Just test calk and mag weekly if the numbers are staying good, if they start getting out of whack and your wcs aren’t keeping them stable then obviously you’ll have to start dosing.

@RobertTheNurse
When you dose, test about an hour or so after, not days later.
You need to know how your dosing is affecting your parameters.
Dose 1/2 the bottle recommendation, test, dose a bit more etc. This will help you figure out how much total water your system holds for future dosing.
Then test 24 hours later to see what your tank is consuming daily.

Personally, I see no need for you to go above 8.0dKH
Higher Alk requires higher N&P levels which will require dosing if you can't keep them up with feeding.
Start simple and see where your tank levels out.

Thanks. I'm good as long as I don't fall below 7. That's the goal. I'm happy with 7-9 max. I've always been in the 8s.

Greg’s right about the testing every couple hours while you’re trying to dose up to where you want your numbers, might take you a few days to get everything where you want, then do the couple day wait period. Or you can even test every 24 hours and see the usage, it doesn’t really matter. Just try not to dose calc and alk too close together or you’ll get precip and your sand will harden if you have any.

here’s the new lps and a tank shot, sorry my iPhone8 sucks for pics, gotta keep it blue unfortunately, I don’t want to change the lights while the new frags are acclimating.

let’s see your tank Rob!

Hey saltybees I highly recommend an orange phone filter like this. These pics were taken back to back with and without this clip on filter
