Today I've picked up a bottle of live rotifers from a local reefer.
The person I've picked it up from have been growing them for breeding clownfish fries but he didn't know if they were the L or S type. He said they multiplied the best at around 26 degrees Celius. I'm guessing they are the L type but is there a way to find out what strain of rotifers they are?
I have a cheap USB microscope and I haven't tried it on the rotifers yet but plan on giving it a go tomorrow. I don't expect much from it since the microscope is like toy grade and I doubt I will be able to see them clearly. Assuming that I can see them somehow, is there anything I should be looking for? I googled the images but the L and S types looked so similar I'm not sure if I will be able to tell them apart.

Yep, it's no good. I can't tell. Sorry about the video quality being rubish. But still, it's nice to see their guts loaded with the green stuff.
