My royal gramma hasn’t been eating well and it had a fight with an emerald crab i bought (i returned the emerald after seeing the damage) but the wounds haven’t healed and idk if it’s a parasite of bacteria that is not allowing it to heal and it just looks like it’s getting worse and it’s been in this condition for over a week already can anyone help me idk what else to do

Are there any other symptoms (I.e. heavy breathing, flashing, etc.)? How long have you had the fish and was it quarantined before being placed in the DT?

no it’s been on the display tank before and then i took it out cause it was just getting worse and worse, it got s little better the first few days in qt but then it just got worse again like even worse than before. the fish is breathing very slowly and i think heavy not sure and it barely moves around sometimes i see it hitting itself in the pvc pipes too but very rare

Is this an established QT tank, or did you just set this up for the gramma? Are you running any medication in the QT tank at the moment? Based on the pictures, I can’t tell if there are flukes or not. If you can post a picture and video under white lighting, that will help. Scratching itself on the PVC pipe would point towards flukes. Also, that wound on his side does look like it might be infected, so there could be a bacterial component to this. In which case, I would use kanaplex.

Here are some videos under a better light the fish still moves and still breathes but it’s been doing this now it wasn’t doing it before the tank wasn’t established i established a couple days ago and did a big water change now because it showed a little bit of ammonia i also tried feeding a little bit of brine but it showed no interest and i was also advised to treat it with copper but it didn’t seem to work so i restarted the tank but added bacteria also

Some of the issues may have stemmed from the water quality in the hospital tank which is why I always like to have an established QT/Hospital tank ready. I see that she is having some buoyancy issues which is commonly caused by bacterial infections. Buoyancy problems are extremely hard to treat especially if the swim bladder is infected. I would treat with kanaplex. It will take at least 2 days for the antibiotics to kick in. I am still not convinced that this is flukes. Copper is effective against ich and velvet, but it would not do anything for flukes or a bacterial infection.

How is the gramma this morning? It looked like it might be moribund (actively dying) in the one video from last night.....

I just woke up this morning and unfortunately it passed away. I bought him in a store where all the other fish or inverts I bought there came sick or somewhat defective I’m never going back to that store I’m really sad because of the Gramma
