Sad news about T5

ATI discontinued one of the best Reef bulb ever - True Actinic.

No idea why, this bulb was good even to supplement LED.

No idea why, this bulb was good even to supplement LED.

Most likely due to low sales and the strong led presence in the hobby.
The led bars are equal to 2 T5 's and I have been using them for 5+ now. I see no reason to use them anymore.
I gave away a nice Giesemannn 36" unit no one wanted to buy.

That’s unfortunate. However, I didn’t like those bulbs, anyway. I saw no benefit IMO. They were also weaker in par.

They were great back in the day to supplement my halides. Some tanks in the 90's looked super blue, with the black light effect, even compared to today's leds, imo.

Good 48 inch led bar cost 500 cad, it's like 15 True Actinic Bulbs...

T5 allow to lit the tank for cheap.

What didn’t you like about it? I love my sunpower! I also supplement it with a lumilite proactinic+UV led strip and it’s perfect.

The true actinic T5 bulbs are trash though if all you are looking for is the color pop.

Orphek blue plus is better than any stand alone actinic, imo.

For actinic? Were any actinic bulbs ever a “go to” for T5s?

Giesemann makes a true actinic still but I bet that is short lived. I’m pretty sure ATI and Giesemann have the same manufacturer making their bulbs these days.

The ATI Straton Pro does amazing actinic blue. They even have an actinic preset.
