First of all I tried putting this in the General Equipment/Filtration category, but it kept taking me here so... Anyways I'm trying to find the safest bio media, I've heard that marinepure leaches aluminum or something like that into the water column, so I'd like to stay away from that. Any recommendations?

Bump. I've heard good things about siporax.

Brightwell. All their media is AWESOME!!! I love it all and I keep designer acros in the tank powered by their media and it’s all good!

Wash all of them real good to minimize the chance of bad stuff release. All bio medias do the same thing, depending on your set up, so choose it base in your condition

Pumice (Marinepure, Brightwell, Matrix) leaches aluminum. Siporax has been reported to leach silicates. Both are used frequently with great success, up to you to determine if elevated Al or Si matters in your application.

Well I care for a coral catshark, which are sensitive to metals.

In addition to the ceramic media above i also like nyon dish scrubbers. Food grade, rated for temperatures far exceeding a reef tank. Also makes a good home for pods.
