Search “Ich treatment” here on R2R and you’ll have more to read than your eyeballs can handle. Lots of good advice if you act rather quickly. Beautiful fish— Best wishes! :)

What type of copper are you using? What is your copper level and what are you using to test?

0.5 is good if you're getting accurate MN test results. I had to switch to a hanna copper checker just because I couldn't read the colors. If this is a newly setup QT there could be an ammonia issue causing undo stress. Ive found the seachem ammonia alert tabs work best for determining ammonia levels. Also make sure its nicely aerated with a powehead aimed at the surface.

i check he copper over and over a few times to make sure. and will the ammonia levels get thrown off by the cupramine? and i have a air stone and powerhead pointing to the top. should i do a fresh water dip and put him back in? thank you for all the help ! really appreciate it in the serious time of my pour sailfin!

I use copper power on just about every fish, although I did read we should not use copper on angelfish's. I usually keep the fish in copper for 21 days while feeing with a mix of GC and focus, perform water changes to remove all copper (using the Hanna checker), and use a general cure for 4 days. The total time is about 30+ days.

Ammonia builds up if there's no established bacteria to break it down. Some use Seachem Prime to reduce ammonia in non established QTs. I have it on hand in case of emergencies but have never had to use it since I have a cycled QT I've been using for a while. I've read that test kits for ammonia won't work in medicated tanks. The ammonia badge will work in a QT tank though.
