Is it common for salt creep to lower your salinity level enough over time that you have to add extra salt while doing a water change to compensate for the lowering level?

I am waiting for my tank to cycle. I think I have a couple weeks yet? I'm just wondering when it would be a good idea to do my first water change? Would it be a couple weeks after adding fish, or even before adding any fish?

Also wondering if anyone knows if carbon is bad for septic systems? I am planning on dumping my used media in the garbage, but plan on cleaning equipment in the sink and wondering if I have to be careful about getting carbon in my septic tank? Probably would be a low enough amount that I wouldn't need to worry.

First water change should come after all nitrite is gone, before any fish.

I don't think granular activated carbon is an issue in a septic system, if that's what you're talking about.

Welcome to R2R btw!
