Q: What size tank do I need for a tang?

A: *Queue Tang Police* This is not a simple answer as different species of tangs require different size tanks. While an adolescent tang might be ok in a smaller tank, it will quickly outgrow a smaller tank.

Do your research on how large your tang will get and a reccomened size. A general rule of thumb is most tangs will do better in a 6’ tank with plenty of swimming room.

Q: How long does a tank need to be fallow to remove ich?

A: Atleast 76 days. Anything less and the ich can survive without a host and re-infest your fish.

Q: Is there a reef safe treatment for Ich?

A: No. You can manage ich in your reef by reducing stress and proper nutrition. But to completely remove ich, you have to quarantine and medicate. Copper based medication is the most effective treatment.

Q. Where did the name BeanAnimal Overflow come from?

A: A snail in the shape of a bean clogged the standpipe of a previous design causing an overflow, which inspired the DIY design.

B: A T-shirt Slogan

C. Named after creator William Bean

According to William Burnett the creator of the BeanAnimal overflow:, "Where did the word “BeanAnimal” come from? Very simple, circa 1985 I attempted to iron the words “Be An Animal” onto a t-shirt for wrestling practice. The words were placed too close together, giving the impression that the shirt said “Bean Animal”. The rest is history."
