Same thoughtsI have mechanical filtration, a skimmer, UV, algae scrubber, heaters, probes, dosing lines, reactors, and a return pump. Can you have all that stuff hang off the back or inside the tank sure but it’s not what I want to see when I look at my reef tank.

Absolutely no argument here, I think this is a spot-on reply, though if some are very new to the hobby and intimidated by drilling tanks and running and plumbing a sump, or they are just on a tight budget, there's nothing wrong with a standard tank, hang on gear, and everything else that goes into the tank. This isn't going to be a museum quality display, but it gets you in the reefing game, which for many is a great startI have mechanical filtration, a skimmer, UV, algae scrubber, heaters, probes, dosing lines, reactors, and a return pump. Yes that’s what I meantI'm going to say it...... FRIEND!!! Just kidding, I hope we can be friends
When you say a tank with a built in filter, do you mean an All-In-One tank that has the filter built into the back? If so, this is a great way to go, and there would be no sump needed in this situation.
I hope that helps - FRIEND![]()
No im talking AIOGot to echo Fish Fan in that if it is an AIO then no sump needed. But if not are you talking HOB equipment?

If you're going to get an All-In-One (AIO) tank with the filter section in the back, then you don't need a sump. I've seen where some will rig up a sump to an AIO, but I don't think it's necessary. Many run AIO's without an additional sump. The ack filter section will hide your equipment with an AIO.
Good luck!
Lol! Yes it was, how'd you guess?!?!Was it reefwhisperer
