Saltwater storage question

Hello, I have a lot of saltwater that I mixed 3 months ago stored in a brute trash can. It’s had its lid on and a small pump running at the bottom.

Is it safe to use this water for a water change?

I am not sure. I have done this for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, but not months. Hopefully someone else with some more knowledge on this will come in.

I used the Tropic Marin pro reef salt.

I would say you’re perfectly fine to use it

You may also want to check your alk too. It can drop over time.


Edit note - it looks like TM pro leveled out in their tests. But I don't think they went for 3 months.

Hey Randy, what about Instant Ocean Reef Crystals? Can that be stored with a lid and a power head for agitation?

Oh wow! I thought storage was best left not stirred to help with elements precipitating out? I use TM pro also so large batch mixed up its best to store it with constant circulation until usage?
