Hello everyone.

I am currently getting ready to get a waterbox 180.5 up and running. I've been storing a few bags of "live" sand in the basement for about a year or two (found them on sale when a petco went out of business). The problem is, it looks like they're starting to grow a little mold/algae in the bag in certain spots.

Would you use it as is, rinse and use, or toss and replace?

For some reason I feel these have "expiration/best used by" dates on the bag..

If you are seeing any kind of growth in them I would not risk it and just get new sand for the system! Last thing you want to do right from the go is add bad sand!
