Sand sifters

Hi guys any recommendations for a 55 litre tank need some sand sifters already have some snails who burrow but I need something that’s gonna turn over the sand for me looking for something maybe a conch would do but any reccomendations would be great, not sure on tank size for certain kinds is all also must be non aggressive

A samdsifting starfish would be a good option, but anything larger would starve due to the low volume of sand in such a small tank.

Fighting conch is always a good member to add to your tank!

Yep! Those and fighting conches are some of the best CUC you can have.

I have 2 tiger conchs, (they stay a bit smaller than the fighting conch) and a diamond goby! The diamond goby wins the prize for sand sifting though! He spends most of his day moving sand around the tank.

I would be hesitant to add a conch to that small of a tank, they require a steady stream of detritus that may not be available in such a small system. IMO you need a 20 gallon minimum for a conch.

That's not nearly enough real estate for a sand sifting starfish.

I would say yes. I have a 90 gallon tank and have 2.

Good. You definitely do not want a fighting conch in that small of a system, but a tiger/strawberry conch should be fine.

Which is the smaller of the two do you know? I also will be upgrading to a larger tank at the start of next year

They the same conch that go by two names.

They are one in the same. Some call them strawberry, while others call them tiger, but they are one in the same. They might get to about 2 inches, where a fighting conch gets to about 3 inches.

I will ask my LFS to get one in for me! Not even seen one for sale where I live!
