Sand sifting star questions

I noticed for the first time today my star on the glass, I think he may be looking for food. Should I put extra food in my tank when feeding the fish every now and then for him?

Mine climbs to the top of the tank a few times a week, nothing to worry about really but I've noticed mine also gets really active after feeding reef roids so maybe try some of those in the tank. Mine is in a Nuvo 20 and has been for over two years now, the only thing that's ever harmed it was a red reef lobster that I quickly rehomed.
