It depends on the sea star. Even if only 1 in a 1000 is a problem, you could have that 1 that is. There are very few 100% behaviors when it comes to life in a reef tank.

Yep, what you read is mostly about an "average" description of behaviors for a particular species, but individuals do vary from that average and may respond differently depending on conditions. I have two neon dottybacks, each in a separate tank; they behave very differently because their tankmates are different, imo.
