Hello reefers. I'm so happy to be here. My name is Marina. My husband Kyle and I love this forum/site. I'm sorry I've waited so long to be a part of it. Though guiltly I've been using this site for research and answers to my questions, all along my reefing journey. My husband has been reefing for at least 17 years.
And here we are. I fell in love with him and all things saltwater. I'm now almost two years into my journey, and I'm in deep. [emoji38] Neither of us are the voice of reason when we enter a LFS.
We started with a 14g bio cube to introduce me to the hobby. Next thing you know we have 4 tanks (all connected to each other) and a sump going on in the living room. Now many tanks, parts, and equipment later...We've finally consolidated and are the proud owners of a RedSea 525xl, using the built in sump. It's been up and running since June 18'
We're running:
ATI 48" powermodule hybrid:
1 actinic bulb, 1 blue plus, 2 coral plus bulbs. (We plan on removing a coral plus and adding a second actinic)
Neptune Apex
Cor20
Aquamaxx coneS q-3
1.5 liter GFO reactor
1.5 liter biopellet reactor
Purigen in the filter socks for now (soon to be a carbon reactor instead)
Procal calcium reactor
Cheatomax 2 in 1 refugium light for macro
And 3 mangroves growing in our overflow box.
We have one Reefapalooza under our belts and we're looking forward to more shows, frag swaps, and exploring every LFS we can drive to during a day trip. (Yes, we're those people)
But wait there's more! We're more than half way done building a fish room in our basement. I plan on posting a build thread. We also have lofty dreams of selling. At least an online store, but maybe a brick and mortar stone day. Hence our forum name.
My husband's a diver, and I'm hoping to be certified some time next year. There's nothing more we'd like than to make our hobby our way of life. A much more enjoyable way to pay the bills, and pay for his expensive hobby.
Looking forward to communicating with you all. And seeing all those beautiful tanks. We're quite knowledgeable, but we're always learning too. Looking forward to being helpful and being helped the way this community only knows how to do.
Cheers,
Marina & Kyle
