Scam calls on your cell phone

How sad is it when the scammers call you and YOUR phone number pops up on the caller ID. Why can’t or won’t the phone companies do something about the number spoofing?

I'm sick of getting automated and live sales calls on my cell phone. You block the number and then get the same sales call from a number just a little different. I wish they would make it illegal to call from a number that can not take return calls. I would return the call and repeatedly call until they have to block my number instead of the other way around. I know everyone has to make a living but these callers are as bad a pest as mosquitos.

I can't even count how many "This is your last chance to extend the warranty for your car" calls I received. I finally talked to them and when it got to the part where they asked if it had over so many miles on it I said yes and they hung up on me...lol...my wife was laughing hard on that one.

It actually is against the law. Something called the Truth in Caller ID Act was passed in 2009. I remember last year someone was fined $120M for spoofing ID's for telemarketing.

The problem is that you actually have to take the call and figure out who it is that you are talking to in order to get enough information to file a complaint. If I recall correctly, a single violation can result in a fine of up to $10k.

I can't even begin to tell you how many warrants and federal agencies are coming after me at this point! IRS, FBI, Homeland all are apparently after me because I never called them back. Can't forget local LEO's that according to the scammers are already on their way to my address....
If you really want to laugh try stringing them along that you're about to wire them money and on you're on your way to the western union office. Keep asking dumb repeated questions and such that they think you're a moron until the time comes to flip it on them. Seems like a lot of work but it can be fun if you're in a goofy mood. I got less and less calls the more i played with them. I think a lot of times its the same people in one location calling with different scams.

I had the "IRS" leave me a message once saying if I didn't return their call that my local coaches would come after me. Living in Alabama I was hoping I would get to meet Nick Saban! Unfortunately, he never showed up. :(

This is a pretty informative and entertaining video on scam emails, not phone calls.

I’m just going to leave that there, and hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Edit: I guess that one isn’t that informative. I think I was confused with a different video.
