Well, I did give them a 2" olive snail, 10 little hermit crabs, and a spider decorator crab, lolol. Needed to reduce my predator population from my live rock/sand shipment.

But yes, I do like them. There's another one that's closer and has better selection but I'll still make the drive to those guys when I have time.

Oh my God after looking just fine the new Kenya tree is shriveled up like the old one. I really hope it's just acclimating and not dying?! What could possibly kill Kenya Trees but not xenia, mushrooms, star polyps, sponges, feather dusters, tunicates, etc.?? I'm going to get an ulcer.

Too close to the star polyps maybe? I didn't think they were particularly nasty other than for growing over other corals.

Welcome to the club! You are now the owner of one of the most moody and hormonal coral known to man!
Like someone else mentioned they are great indicators of water quality but sometimes they just lay down because they are sick of life! Good thing you have a pretty dottyback to cheer him up!
One thing that definitely seems to be true is that they hate to be messed with. I moved mine a little and he laid over for about a week :D
At first I tried obsessive to change to flow or lighting but in the end it seems better to just let them go and figure it out themselves.

I would still consider RO/DI. Your tank will get plenty of Po4 from feedings.
I have had this Kenya for a year and a half (it has doubled since this shot 6 months ago, sorry for the iPhone shot). I do weekly WC in my 45 JBJ with RO/DI and PO4 (Hanna) runs 0.04-0.00.
The Tree will drop a "branch" now and then and that will attach somewhere in the tank. I usually harvest the frag and trade it at the LFS.
The only issue has been the Frog Spawn stinging the KT causing it to retract for a few days. I ended up selling the Frog Spawn when it got bigger.
The KT does naturally shrink down at night.

Apparently I'm the only person in existence who has managed to kill one, lol.

I took this today and my tree doesn't look all that much bigger but it is happier without the Frogspawn brushing it. There are two frags growing now but I couldn't get a good shot. On the right is a Leather that looks similar. It has a new growth but it seems to come from the base.
My tree does ball up at night and it does take a hour or so in the AM when the lights come on, to open up.
BTW after a WC yesterday, PO4 was 0.02. I don't feed the tree either.
