Hello. I got this Bleeding Apple Scolymia from @AquaSD a little over a month ago. It had been great, except a few stings from a torch when I'd turn the power head off, so I moved it out of reach.

Recently it's started to lose some color around the center, and seems to have gotten progressively worse. It was still swelling up to eat and had tentacles coming out at night. Just tried to feed it and it only seemed to half swell up.

I have another smaller scoly that seems to be doing great with no issues.

Any suggestions on this one? I hope it's not a goner

Temp - 76°
Ca - 425
Mg - 1275
Alk - 7.9
NO3 - 23.7
PO4 - .48

I know it's a bit dirty, but it's been stable and everything has seemed to be thriving until this scoly. Working on trying to get that PO4 down a bit.

i’ve seen scolys that were far worse off that yours, that ended up making a full recovery. they take a long time to heal and grow, so it may still be recovering from the torch stings. they have really strong stings

I'm thinking I should move it much farther away? I'm at a loss of what else to try. I appreciate the words of encouragement and welcome and additional suggestions!

if it looks like it’s going to get stung again in a matter of days or weeks (considering its growth), i would think about moving it further away. however, constantly moving it and forcing it to readjust to new PAR, flow, etc. could irritate it more. in this case, it’s “pick your poison”, in a sense

Well, I think I just found the culprit. That's a big bummer.

Good news. It's looking much better. Made a makeshift cage from a tiny colander. Added a 4" feeding cage from @Printed Reef, so that's it's new home! Looks like it's going to make a recovery! Still a little discolored in the center, but the flesh has returned and it's eating!
