Scooter and mandarin goby mates?

I just put these two together today and found them like this. Is this normal? Lights just went off. Are they mates now? Cool to see!

Any idea if one is male and one is female?

I know you should only have 1 male ruby red dragonette, that 2 males will become 1, but nothing beyond that.

Not a clue on the scooter sex, but the mandarin is a female for sure. I will try to do some research on the scooter to find out. They have really taken a liken to each other.

As with mandarins, their first dorsal tells the tale. Hers will be small, his will be a massive fan.

Thank you for the info on how to ID the sex. Indeed it looks as if the scooter has a larger fan type dorsal fin in the front.

A few days later after observing more, I caught them yet again sleeping next to each other. :)
