I kind of had a suspicion this guy had been misidentified at the lfs. I took him because I knew his chance of getting taken care of properly was going to be slim. He is really a great fish; very personable, very comical, and quite deadly. He grew from 2 to 4 inches in a matter of months, taking down food meant for the rhino, mollies about 2/3rds of his own size. The fish he was identified as, Scorpaenodes caribbaeus, really should not have been doing this. Lucky he came with me, as a scorp caribbaeus he would not be expected to reach more than about 3.5", maybe 4" at the outside. This guy, the Scorpaenodes brasiliensis, will likely reach well over 6". He could be eating alot of potential tank mates in the wrong tank. I really like this guy, he'll be right at home with me.
