Scuff marks on Goldrim tang?

Hi I got this Gold rim tang yesterday and I have him in Qt with a smaller sail fin and a flasher wrasse. He got these scuff marks after bumping into something is it something to worry about?

This is either scuff marks or skin irritation and seeing the rocks in tank, may be a contributor.
Is fish breathing and eating normal? If so, keep an eye on it for healing. If not healing up in a couple of days, place fish in a separate tank and treat with Seachem Neoplex for at least 5 days with aeration added via air stone

Are you quarantining the fish with medication like copper, etc? If so - do not mix those with neoplex.

Second a general practice which has good scientific background is not to add a new fish into a QT with other fish already being quarantined. In any case - I would hope that you are using the copper prazapro protocol to QT your fish.

Hi thanks for the reply. The fish were added at the same time and were in the same tank at my LFS. I have started copper so thank for the heads up on the safety. Is it alright to have copper and Prazi pro in the water at the same time?

Update I think the fish somehow managed to smash his face into the rock again
So I have removed the rocks and placed pvc pipes. I don't really have experience with marine fish injuries. What is his survival rate like if he has this? I plan to keep the water as clean as possible. Weekly water changes. I'm having to treat with copper to keep the whitespot at bay. Any advice on how to proceed or is it just a waiting game? The wound is still pink and may be slightly swolen.

So I have removed the rocks and placed pvc pipes. I don't really have experience with marine fish injuries. What is his survival rate like if he has this? I plan to keep the water as clean as possible. Weekly water changes. I'm having to treat with copper to keep the whitespot at bay. Any advice on how to proceed or is it just a waiting game? Yes. looks like damage from rocks which never should be in quarantine to begin with as rock will absorb/reduce medication. Assuming you are medicating, revisit the treatment levels intended to assure they are in therapeutic range
Coppersafe 2.25ppm
Scuff should heal on its own ion its face but keep an eye on it to assure its healing and not becoming red/sore

Hi the fish's injury has gotten worse last night, but not the past 2 nights. I think the fish keeps smashing his face? I'm not really sure what to do or know how he managed to target that specific side of his face over and over . The injury on his face had scratches, then the scratches became larger over night 2 days later and now 2 days later it has become one wound.

Not reallt able to get a better photo but there are these dots higher up on his face. Even one behind his eye. It just lookes quite strange. Those have atleast not gotten worse

Use vitachem or selcon in food. It will help get vitamins needed for healing in the fish. May get banged up at times even from PVC during QT, and they heal up in a day or two. Remember copper also brings down their immune system. So quality food with, again, vitachem or selcon helps.

Not sure as I do not use it. I only have selcon and vitachem because I know they work. Also for tangs spectrum makes an algae wafer food that has no fillers. Mine love that stuff. I feel if they do die it’s from being fat! Haha!

My internet is taking for ever to upload the video it would seem.

But one of the purple I have, yesterday had a big ding in his/her scales under the belly yesterday. Today gone as if nothing happened. These fish Heal so fast if they have the correct food! It’s insane to me anyways!

I'm wondering if my 40 gallon Qt is too small then? I think my fish is healthy besides the sore he keeps worsening.

Vitachem, selcon, etc will not work. They are immunity boosters. Use Broad spectrum treatment such as Seachem kanaplex in water or in your country Waterlife myxazin
