I've read from others that Dolabellas don't really ink. My guy is about 3 inches, and he cleaned a 20 gallon of all the GHA in maybe 2 weeks. Right now I have a few macros in the tank with him, I'm hoping he will take to them.
Oh they ink. I had one ink in my tank. Turned it purple. No losses. The in is not toxic to our tanks.

Well, that's something, at least. Maybe I read those other things incorrectly. Right now I have him in a tank by himself so I can make sure he's eating, I'm really hoping I can keep him going and he can join the fam.
