Seachem coral crete bad ?

Today I went to my lfs bought a hammer , royal gamma and few other items one of them being seachem coral crete recommended by my lfs because I usually use gorilla glue gel but it's a pain to squirt out or next use it dries up so he told be use epoxy easy get a knife cut a piece and mix the two till its one solid color. Did that and when I put it in it crumbled a bit and a small could appear and disappeared. While I did that my orange storm pair were attacking my hand . After that left and came back a hour later and only saw one clown which is odd and I spent the next 15mins looking and I found it tuck at the bottom with a bristle worm chowing on the tail dead with the it's gills expanded. Everything else is fine coral and even the new addition royal gamma is good so was it the epoxy ? I message and sent a pic to my lfs thru IG . All I got was sorry ‍

Yes epoxy messes the water a bit and drains the oxygen from the water. You should use an airstone if you don't have a skimmer.... I assume you have no skimmer because epoxy makes the skimmer go wild. After a day or two when the epoxy is dried, do a few water changes to get that residue out. Also run some activated carbon if you have it. Personally I think epoxy is bad stuff and I avoid it if I can.

The epoxy may have impacted water quality, lowering oxygen levels and stressing your fish. Epoxy can release chemicals while curing, so doing a few water changes and running activated carbon should help clear things up. If you use epoxy again, consider adding an airstone for better oxygenation and be cautious with its effects.

Contacted seachem and they said not their products fault . Confirmed expiration date is good .. the theory is that when the epoxy crumbled and release a small cloud my clownfish was close enough to inhale in ingest the epoxy which killed it . I can confirm they were close because they were biting my hand when I was gluing the frag . They said they were going to ship me a package of a few seachem products because of the situation. Originally they offered to replace the coral crete and I told them I'm never using it again , ima stick to super glue gel for on . So that's the update ..

Update part 2 : some of the frags I used the epoxy did not glue to the rock . The urchin snag them and I'm missing two zoas now . One dragon eyes zoa and a forgot the name but it was red .. Haven't tried checking the strength of the hammers I glued down but ima just leave it be . Did a 50% water change and replaced my carbon with a fresh batch .

Epoxy is terrible for gluing frags. As unappealing as it is to work with glue gel, it really is the best for frags. Hope you find your runaway zoa's
