Seachem Matrix for DIY Dry rock?

Hey guys. Just wondering. For those that have done the DIY dry rock, do you think that using seachem matrix in the mix will improve the filtration to any measurable amount? I have mostly Haitian Rock which is basically solid brick so i was thinking i would DIY my next tank's live rock, hence the question.

Also, any tips from the experienced guys that most dont take into consideration?
