I have a pistol shrimp with a tiny yellow watchman goby in a 34G Red Sea reef. I just got a fish delivery today, there was a mistake and I received another larger yellow watchman goby. If I put the new YWG in the tank, will he kill the smaller one? Will they both live in the burrows with the shrimp (he has tunneled out pretty much the whole tank). I'm afraid if I put him in my large fowler he will get eaten by a larger fish.

U can try putting larger one. If u see some serious fighting, u can remove larger one. They can become pair so worth trying but it is best to stick with mated pairs if u want to do that. Still try to add and see what happens. If u get 2 males/females, you'll see fighting for territory but if u get one male and other female, u may also get fine

Let's see what other's say

All the best and keep us updated :)

I'm happy to report both are still alive. So I have a yellow watchman goby and a smaller blue spot goby. Basically the same thing, different colors.

Sometimes I see the yellow with the shrimp, sometimes the blue spot with the shrimp. Never both. This weekend was the closest. The yellow was with the shrimp and the blue spot was hanging around. I could tell the yellow was looking at him and when he slowly moved towards, the blue spot moved away.

Basically, I think that they share the shrimp, but they don't like each other.

Sorry for the poor video

I have two yellow watchman gobies and two PS in my 40 gal tank. They live separately right now. The shrimps are of at same species. The YWG one is yellow and the other is the gray. When I got (separately about 6 weeks apart) them they were both yellow. I can easily take picture of the yellow one but mot the other YWG.
