Seeding with LR

I just set up a 90G with maybe 20lbs of LR (nothing on them except bacteria) from an existing tank that been running for 6 months but had no fish. Then i added about another 50lbs of dried rocks. How long do you think that it will take to cycle or would it even go through a cycle at all?

yes it will take some time to get the bacteria into the dry rock. If by cycle you mean ugly phase, it might. depends IMO on the organics on the new rock.
if you mean the nitrogen cycle, yes the tank is and should be cycling right now, and depending on the organics on the new rock, you may see ammoina , but I doubt it esp if you used live sand.

I only used 1/4 a cup of LS. I added an existing HoB filter that been running on a freshwater tank to boost bac population and a sponge.

Ok, its probably has a good cycle running but will take time to come up to speed. you should test the AM and such and also use your nose. In a week or so (depending on when you added the dead rock), you may smell "beach"
this would be the presence of high organics beginning to rot and feeding the cycle.
any bacterial additive will help the process. I hated nite out. works great but gave me brown gunk every where.

eh, might work.

Once it's good it's good... "seeded" sounds like a storm.. You can weather it though... The Nitrogen cycle has be manipulated a million & 4 X before... ;)
