Serious Situation, Urgent Prayer Needed

I know that most of you don't know me.
I am relatively new to this site, but I have a Prop tank thread in the Propagation forum.

For those that pray, I need to request urgent prayer for a very serious situation.
My 12 yr. old niece, Ashley, was hit by a schoolbus today while she was riding her bike home from school.
She was not wearing a helmet and has very serious head injuries as well as internal bleeding in her chest.
She has massive swelling of her brain and the internal specialist who operated on her says he's never seen injuries this bad. He gave her a 1 in 1,000 chance to live. They don't expect her to live past morning.

The doctors have done everything they can, and it will pretty much take a miracle now to heal her.

Please, please, please pray.

I was just with Ashley a short while ago, and the swelling in her brain has come down a little bit.
To give a standard of comparison, the swelling was measured at a 33 when she came out of surgery yesterday and was given odds of 1 in 1000 chance of making it.
Before I left for the hospital this morning, the swelling had gone up to 63. For most of the day today it has been fluctuating between 68-74.
They elevated her upper body a little more and gave her fluids because they thought she might be dehydrated. Not long after that the swelling started to go down and was 58-59 before I left.
The brain swelling is still very much the biggest danger. My sister said that it can take up to 3 days for it to reach the maximum level of swelling.
She is needing less assistance to breath, and is breathing on her own or at least attempting to breath on her own about half the time. Her temperature before I left for the hospital was 104 and has come down to 102.
We got results back from X-Rays just before I left, and she doesn't have as many broken bones as they originally suspected. She has a fracture in the left side of her pelvis as well as some broken ribs on the right side, although they don't know how many.
For some reason, they have not had her on continuous pain medication. She was given a dose of pain medication on 2 occasions later this afternoon. Shortly after she got it, her brain swelling went down and when it began to wear off after 15 minutes, the swelling went back up. This happened both times. We're hoping they'll put her on a continuous drip of pain medication.
She is continuing to have some involuntary movements in both of her arms.
Her face is very swollen, but not disfigured. She has superficial gashes on both cheeks and there is gauze over her ears, but they look bloody. Her head is completely covered from the forehead up. I believe they removed a section of her skull to relieve pressure from the swelling.
We are seeing some encouraging signs, but the fight is far from over. The fact that she is still alive when they said she wouldn't last past the morning is encouraging in itself.

you asked about the pain meds......and normally when there is a brain injury like this or other major internal injury......they keep the patient in a medically induced coma as its easier on the body to recover (helps keep body temp down). while in these comas.....pain medication really isn't necessary (same reason why they don't give pain meds to a person in surgery as the anaesthetic takes over). although i don't know what her specific situation is......sounds like they are just keeping her HEAVILY sedated....almost a borderline coma.
