Setting up Apex on an AIO

On an AIO tank would you mount the probes in the return chamber or in one of the equipment chambers? I hate to take out my carbon reactor but also want to get the most out of my Apex. Space is definitely limited back there.

When I had my IM20 running I had the probes in the return chamber. Never had to pull them out to service any equipment.
