Hi! So Modular Marine is now supplying an 800 gph bean animal and they told me no minimum required flow rate for it. What return pump would you recommend and would I be ok using it with a 40/20 setup?

I would spend the extra 10 bux and get te 1200 gph overflow. The 800 gph only accommodates 1/2“ internal plumbing. The 1200 gph gives you 3/4” internal plumbing... huge difference in adjustability and leeway in flow options. In fact, I upgraded my 1200 gph box with 1” internal plumbing, running a Herbie.

What size tanks are you running? I am getting a 40/20 setup so that is not too much hp?

So are you running it at 1200 ghp or something much less?

Not sure, I’m not using a flow meter to measure actual flow. But I do know that the larger your drain plumbing, the more leeway you have in terms of flow and adjustment to make it run silently. 1/2” drain plumbing gives you too little of a margin for adjustment IMO.

Details about my return pump and flow are in post #18 of this thread.
