Shark adding

Only 70lbs or live rock now, 240lbs of sand, I’ve been keeping an eye on the parameters and they haven’t swayed out of the norm. Im stepping up on water changes. I still have a giant UV and skimmer. And of course filter socks
Edit: also a refugium
Glad to hear it! Regardless, a 13" ray is already low key pushing it in a tank that size, it's already half of the tank width front to back and it will start getting stressed as it grows due to lack of turning room. You've mentioned upgrading a few times in your previous threads- it would have been a better idea to wait for the upgrade on the ray, especially with such a delicate species like the blue dot since they already have very poor survival rates in captivity, which will only be compounded in a smaller environment.

Yeah, I saw he has claspers though, so hopefully he’ll stay smaller. I’m still trying to figure out how to preserve the heat in the winter, and limit humidity

I’m interested in 2 different types of sharks atm. The Japanese leopard, and grey smooth hound. My lfs has both at 8”, I want to add one of them to my 240. I’m aware that both get huge, so how long could I care for them in this tank until I’ll either upgrade to a pond, or donate to my local aquarium (who takes donations)
Where is you lfs I been looking for one ore the others around that size I use to have a coral cat shark that just passed after 9year and looking for a new shark

NYaquatics, located in Yonkers NYC. They ship across the country-best prices around, live sales every Sunday on insta and FB. Often 50% off then. That’s where I got my blue dot ray from, almost a month now. Most pass away within first few days

Stay away from them. Their fish are loaded with parasites. He sold the shark I Alfred’s paid for and refused to refund me instead strong armed me into a sick tang and Hawaiian tang from ‘Japan’

Wonderful, I have an order coming with them next week. Good thing I have a FOWLR with no inverts, and had already planned on treating the tank just to be safe.

I and everyone else had had a completely different experience with NYaquatics, I’ve gotten like 20 fish from him. No issues except a few chromis and cleaner wrasse

I have gotten an Achilles tang, moorish idol, and blue spotted stingray. The 3 hardest fish to keep, all doing great from him. All are right away in the tank

Ah okay, I ordered 4 tangs and 3 chromis, that are coming next week. They were part of the sale he had

Only fish I got from him was my polleni grouper who died the same night. But there wasnt a working heat pack in the box and the water was ice cold and it couldnt swim at all and just was doing awful. Pretty fish though. Decided to try him one more time since a heat pack is something they can control and he promised he would make sure the fish had one

I would do an extensive qt on the chromis though, unfortunately I think he had uronema in the system
Yeah I have a 15 gallon Im going to fill tomorrow for them. Just dont have a place to QT 4 tangs but the chromis can chill in the 15 for a while. They are vanderbilts, thats the only reason I decided to get them cause those are beautiful and not the normal chromis

I only had the issue with the normal chromis. If I separated the infected one from day 1, the rest wouldn’t lived, was my mistake.

What type of tangs? I have 5 tangs, two dwarf angels, Marine beta, and a clownfish all in a 65 qt. Depending on size you could probably squeeze them in there lol

I only have a 32 gallon QT. My 40 gallon got repurposed for a bearded dragon! Lol. And I got a sohal, purple tang, atlantic blue and a white tail bristletooth with their sales where those were way over half off so hopefully they are in good shape! Need some fish besides my eels and clownfish. 300 gallons is a lot of dead water with just eels and smaller fish! Lol

I’m nearly positive you could put 4 tangs in a 32 for a few weeks. Unless they are giants, like 6”+ there shouldn’t really be any negative side affects.

Totally get needing to get rid of dead space, I picked up 2 more tangs today to now have 11 tangs total. I’m actually looking for an eel or similar, to occupy the rocks, none of my fish like to hang around the rocks

I love eels, they are amazing :) and yeah I guess I could but I have 3 of 4 of them being pretty large and aggressive, I feel like that will be more issues than help any to be honest. Im unsure how big the sohal will be and those are mean AF, I could see it fighting with the purple in that small of a tank. Also not sure about the size of the atlantic blue, they are large fish too. I dont have inverts so easy to treat my tank with coppersafe, and it doesnt bother the eels at all

Long term, I’ve had a bad experience with copper and eels, maybe different subspecies have different immunity levels, but my snowflake and zebra died from organ failure from what I presume was the copper

Which eels do you have? I’m considering a banana eel and zebra, I do have a couple smaller fish and they seem pretty safe

If possible, I would keep the Atlantic blue and sohal in a sump or the 32 for a bit after the others go in, my Atlantic blue is a dick to everyone, and I haven’t seen a single sohal that didn’t go Jack the Ripper on all of its tank mages

I have a Jeweled dragon eel, snowflake, zebra and a white eye!
