Hello! Is there any kind or shark that can be kept happily in a 200 gallon tank? Along with other fish! Sorry if this seems like a silly question but it’s my dream so worth an ask! If not that’s absolutely fine! I’m sure I will be able to get my shark tank one day.

ORA has a couple of captive-bread sharks that would need 200 gallons minimum. My understanding though is that they are mostly nocturnal and bottom feeders.

First off - while I love the fact that ORA is captive breeding these species. But honestly a 200 gallon minimum tank size is way too small for any of those three species.

Short tailed Nurses (Pseudoginglymostoma brevicaudatum) - may max out at about 30" - but they are also wide bodied sharks and therefore unable to "turn on a dime" like Arabian bamboos, Speckled Epaulettes, or Coral Catsharks. As such a single adult really needs a 300 gallon pond(5.6 feet in diameter), or a 360 gallon(8'x3'x2') aquarium as a bare minimum.

Speckled Epaulettes/carpetsharks (Hemiscyllium trispeculare) are slightly longer at a max of 30-32". They are a lot slimmer species, as well as less active than the Short tailed Nurse. You could possible keep one in a 225-260 gallon tank.

Epaulette (Hemiscyllium ocellatum) max out about 40-42", and they average about 36". So they really need a tank or pond which is about 450-480 gallons (10'x3'x2') as a bare minimum.

As for species of sharks which could be kept in a 180-200 gallon(6'x2'x2') tank for life. Maybe something like a Bali Catshark (Atelomycterus baliensis), or Spotted Belly Catshark(Atelomycterus erdmanni). Both species seem to stay around 20 inches (51-52 cm) in length.
