Ok as life is very short, and more importantly here in England it’s just about that time were I start my evenings slow anaesthesia, and you’ve had 5 minutes, I’ll tell you!

This is a very bad picture I agree. It’s zoomed in because it’s the only one I have showing what’s on that rock. And it was covered, way beyond the normal means of control, and it was much worse than in this picture taken a while ago.

So I decided to take drastic action and remove it with some tongs whilst saying several hale Mary’s and crossing my chest that I didn’t drop it….. through the bottom of the tank…. Which despite it having a double layer of glass on the bottom, to provide some protection against such eventualities, was of some concern…….

Anyway I boiled a kettle of boiling water, added some bleach to a small bucket whilst saying some secret magical spells (and Im sorry there secret….!) and added the boiling water. Stirred it while dancing around said bucket with more chants and spells, and then dropped the rock into it……

And 7 days later…. You’ve heard of bleached corals, well this is a bleached rock. It’s taken everything off including coralline and it’s pure white !

It’s difficult to tell the difference from the Red Sea I used to be honest

The instructions suggest it lasts longer so I only change it every 8 weeks or so, but I’ve no evidence either way
