The clam is amazing! Or is that a scallop?
Thanks for checking in Brice

If it’s the blue one it’s a clam, or it was, as it was eaten by crabs probably over a year ago. I did also have a flame scallop but that didn’t last long.

Mother is guarding her baby’s........

The Trigger fish were spawning again last night and the video below is just after the main event we’re they went ‘swimming’ through the sand together

The female stayed in position throughout the night on guard from the nasty crabs I assume!

Nice video! Is the lightning a way to get them to spawn, or coincidental?
I don’t know do I ! Lol

It’s the Hyrda 26 storm effects which come on around 7pm each night as I find it very atmospheric... this and the vats of wine lul me to sleep or pass out

And maybe it puts the Triggers ‘in the mood for luuvvvv’! Lol

So interesting to be able to observe fishes natural behaviors. Well done.
It is Pancho, it’s fascinating to watch them and try and work out what they are thinking or trying to do. I haven’t figured it yet though!

She's on the job!!

Did she do that the last times, when they spawned?
Yes they have exactly the same behaviour every time before and after, which is why I noticed them.

They try and build a nest at the bottom of the tank for a few weeks or days, and then swim around together ‘dancing’ for several days. Then at an appropriate moment they both ‘swim’ through the sand together were they have made a nest sending it everywhere! There is a video earlier in this thread which i caught on camera.

Nice videos... and very interesting.
Do they guard the nest for a long time afterwards?
Good question Janci

They (the female I should say) guard it for about 48 hours until I assume the crabs have got everything, but then the female keeps coming back every so often to check but no longer guarding.

The male buggered off long ago ! Lol

Here’s a picture I think of a Lobophyllia coral, a green version which has grown really well
