Should I add a royal gramma

I have a 10 gallon tank with lots of coral and 2 Skunk clownfish. I’ve read that coral actually benefits from a reasonable amount of fish poop so I was wondering if it would be okay to add a royal gramma? I would love a more splash of color but only if it can be tolerated or even beneficial to my tank which is currently flourishing.

Feed reef roids, they won't fight with your clownfish. 10 is very small space for three fishes.

Interested to hear what the OGs say on this. My LFS advised that it'd be too much to have a single clown and royal gramma present in a 13.5 Fluval AIO, so I stuck with my single darwin clown.

If your tank is flourishing now I would stay the course. IMO as clowns mature even Skunk clowns can become territorial. In a 10 gallon I wouldn't risk it.

I purchased my 10 gallon tank that had already cycled with live sand, live rock, 3 coral, and two skunk clownfish. It was a buy as it is purchase. The owner is a marine biologist and said 2 skunk clownfish were perfectly fine in the 10 gallon tank. He also said with a lot of coral I could add a royal gramma as long as I maintained the tank well. I expect he would know what he’s talking about but I’m sure several people in this forum have even more experience.

no. Royal gramma is very shy and skittish and won’t do well in such a small tank with 2 clowns. The tank is full with 2 clowns, shouldn’t add anymore. It’s even small for 2 clowns to be honest.

The fish we keep have a tiny ocean around them. The smaller fish may stay inside of a very small area to avoid predators but the movement of water keeps them in fresh water continuously.

So a pair of small fish can survive in a small tank but they don’t enjoy the fresh water and drifting food supply that the ocean provides.

Same answer for different reason. My royal gramma is the bully of my tank in a 60. Keeps the clowns and other fish away from “his” rock at all times. It seems like they either come super shy or super aggressive. Either way (disregarding the 3 fish in a 10g debate), I wouldn’t add a royal gramma to my 60 again if I did it over. Just my experience.
