So my neighbor just recently got out of the hobby and to my surprise he had a lot of similar equipment as I do. He had a whole setup from lifereef . A Berlin sump, a skimmer, ato setup for sump and another hob prefilter box. Identical to mine nearly.. (although 20 years older) same style and everything though.

I was wondering if I should add another overflow to my tank and have more filtration. I have 3 inputs on my filter sock side of my sump and 1 on my return side. I was thinking either plumbing the new overflow into my filtersoxks so I could increase the flow through my tank. ( I have a varios 6 and only use setting 2 of 5)

What is everyone’s opinion? I unfortunately can’t hook up another sump because of lack of space and don’t really want to just have the equipment sitting if I could utilize it. Any opinions would be great!

Is the current overflow box not able to handle the flow out of the DT?

It can. It is capable of 600 gph I believe I was wondering how much flow is too much flow? I just assumed I would be able to add it on the other side and run another pipe to the filter sock inlet just because I had it. I can’t use the pump above lvl 2 because of the box not being able to flow that much out in time.

3x to 5x DT turn over through the sump in a hour is ideal.

Honestly and respectfully the size tank and overflow your using should be fine. Adding a overflow to utilize another filter sock is good, but probably not needed.
