i think this is just red coralline growing on my torch (but can anyone confirm?). it started at the base and has been spreading up towards the polyps. i'm wondering if i need to try and scrape it off before it gets any higher or if i can just leave it and the torch will be fine?

Yes there is coraline growing on the base, pink. The darker area is either sponge or red algae. See if it can be removed manually.
