Should I modify my sump?

Hi picked up a used tank and it came with the sump in the diagrams below. Assuming the middle section is a refugium shouldn’t the baffle be the other way around so there is a diagonal top to bottom water flow rather than it flowing straight over the top?

Or is it correct as it is already designed?

Over the years I have seen sumps designed many different ways. The over-under setup that you have on the end is the part that keeps the micro bubbles away from your return. The rest is less important in most cases.

Thanks for your reply. I am happy to leave it as it is if it will still function just as good for the refugium.
