I'm conflicted. I bought diffusers for my Radion XR-15's. I'm a fan of shimmer and notice that is pretty reduced when they're on. However, its my understanding I'll get better coverage with them on.

Try using just one. Not sure how to help you. It’s your tank after all

I like the diffuser, would it make sense to get both high intensity and diffuser ?

I use diffusers on my 2x AI Prime 16 HD LEDs and like them.
PAR spread is not much different actually (evens out the hot spots a LITTLE bit), other than I had to boost my intensity by about 30% to get same PAR (per Apogee MQ-510).
I like the visual better -- less disco ball,,, and they control spill outside of the tank a little bit.

*that's all I've got and different lights, but just one perspective

I used them on my old 80 and now on a new ext50.
I am currently running ab+ @ 30%.
decent shimmer and not over powering. I used them on the 80 because sitting on the couch the leds are not pleseant to the eyes.
They also protect from salt spray.

would it make sense to do both high intensity filter to provide focus and defuse screen to better blend?

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
